Selena Marie Gomez (born July 22, 1992) is an American actress and singer-songwriter best known for her portrayal of Alex Russo on the Emmy Award winning Disney Channel Original Series, Wizards of Waverly Place. She has starred in the television movies, Another Cinderella Story and Princess Protection Program.
Before Disney, she had one of the kid roles on Barney & Friends. In 2008, she signed a record deal with Hollywood Records and contributed to the Tinker Bell, Another Cinderella Story and Wizards of Waverly Place soundtracks. Her band, Selena Gomez & the Scene, released their debut studio album Kiss & Tell on September 29, 2009, which was certified Gold by RIAA on March 5, 2010.
Gomez was born in Grand Prairie, Texas to Ricardo Gomez and Mandy Teefey (née Cornett), a former stage actress. Her father isMexican American and her mother is of half Italian descent. Her birth parents divorced when she was five years old, and she was raised as an only child by her working mother. In 2006, her mother remarried Brian Teefey. She is named after Tejano singer Selena.
In a 2009 interview, Gomez said she developed an early interest in acting from watching her mother perform in theater productions. "My mom [Mandy] did a lot of theater, and I would watch her rehearse. When she got ready for the show and put on her makeup, I would sit behind her and color. She said, 'You have my lines memorized better than I do!' One day I said [to her], 'I want to be like you!'" She earned a high school diploma through homeschooling in May 2010.

David James Archuleta (born December 28, 1990) is an American pop singer-songwriter, best selling author and occasional actor. At ten years old he won the children's division of the Utah Talent Competition leading to other television singing appearances. When he was twelve years old, Archuleta became the Junior Vocal Champion on Star Search 2. In 2007, at sixteen years old, he became one of the youngest contestants on the seventh season of American Idol. In May 2008 he finished as the runner-up, receiving 44 percent of over 97 million votes.

In August 2008 Archuleta released "Crush," the first single from his self-titled debut album. The album, released two months later, debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart; it has sold over 750,000 copies in the U.S. and over 900,000 Worldwide.

Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody has become a mum for the first time after giving birth to son Marcello.
The 32-year-old star and husband Dan Maurio welcomed their little boy on July 27 after announcing the news they were expecting in April.
She wrote on Twitter: 'We had our boy early this morning! Marcello Daniel Maurio, 7lbs, 2 oz, lightly mustachioed.'
Cody is best known for writing the scripts to movies such as Juno, which starred Ellen Page and Michael Cera, as well as United States of Tara and Jennifer's Body, starring Megan Fox.
Cody married Maurio last year but only revealed the news in April when they also announced they were expecting.

The annual China Fashion Week opened in Beijing on Wednesday.

First event of the Week was the International Young Fashion Designer Competition, a contest involving more than 30 designers from 18 countries including France, Germany and Russia.

Veteran Chinese fashion designers say this year's entrants have delivered some excellent collections. Ma Yanli is among those who were impressed while watching the contest.

"I thought the designs for this year would be a little bit immature, but I am really surprised to see that many of them are quite developed. The ideas and materials for the designs are great as well."

There will be approximately 50 events including fashion shows, professional contests, conferences and forums during the China Fashion Week.

This is the 13th year that Beijing has hosted China Fashion Week. It runs until March 30.

Paul the octopus (purportedly hatched January 2008) is a common octopus living in a tank at a Sea Life Centre in Oberhausen, Germany. Paul became internationally famous for correctly predicting the winner of Germany's seven matches at the 2010 World Cup, as well as the final.

During the divinations, Paul was presented with two boxes containing food in the form of a mussel, each box marked on the outside with the flag of a national football team in an upcoming match.
